Te Whanganui

Te Whanganui

Te Whanganui is the original Maori name for what is known today as Port Underwood and lies to the north of the Wairau River mouth.

Rahotia stands at the head of Whanganui (Port Underwood) and is said to have once been a viewpoint for Te Huataki, an early Rangitane Tupuna.
